Culmination:
N. 1. To reach the highest point or degree: A final climatic stage
N. 2. To come to completion: End. A concluding action.
N. 3. Attainment or arrival at the highest pitch of glory.
Retirement:
N. 1. Removal or withdrawal from service, office, or business.
N. 2. The execution of a 'replicant' in the motion picture 'Blade Runner'.
These two words epitomise this release: It is the fourth and final chapter of the 'Esper' Blade Runner series of scores. Someone once said, 'All good things come to an end'. 25 years after the film's premiere the 'Blade Runner Trilogy' set was released but is far from complete with a lot of eminent music missing, hence the need for this release which is a true reflection of Vangelis' enigmatic score. All the music is here in chronological order.
Like when a Blade Runner 'retires' replicants, the '25th Anniversary Culmination' is intended to illustrate this with its dark artwork and black discs, mirroring Ridley Scott's vision of a futuristic Los Angeles.
The 'Retirement Edition' has many improvements over all other Blade Runner releases. For the first time the original and full studio recording of 'Prologue And Main Titles' is featured, incorporating superior sound quality. It also contains an unreleased early demo of 'Tales Of The Future' and a track entitled 'J.F. Sebastian's Apartment', both of which are new and exclusive to this release. 'End Titles' has the best sound quality to date and is played here in its full original 7 minute recording. 'Dangerous Days' and 'Wounded Animals' are also complete and in their best ever sound quality. There are also extended and full versions of 'I Am The Business' and 'I Dreamt Music', otherwise known as 'Desolation Path' or the 'Alternate Love Theme'.
There has always been an argument to whether the music of Blade Runner sounds better with or without sound effects. This final 'Retirement Edition' aims to create the most 'musically-pure' and complete Blade Runner listening experience to date. The score has been completely remixed and created from scratch so it does sound very different from the previous three 'Esper' releases. When the 'Blade Runner Trilogy' set was released the original 1994 album was remastered and it is these remastered recordings that are used on the 'Retirement Edition'. Also many other unreleased tracks have been remastered.
Since the film's initial release in 1982, the now legendary Blade Runner score by Vangelis Papathanassiou has become one of the most talked about scores of all time. The 'Retirement Edition' is the ultimate Blade Runner score, professionally mixed in a recording studio to give you, the listener, the best sound quality and mix of music possible.
A collection of alternate material, exclusive and unique to the Esper 'Retirement' Edition. This includes a specially prepared 'City Streets' suite that aims to transport the listener into a futuristic Los Angeles, sampling the film in chronological order using all available sound effects. These discs also contain Vangelis unused music for the film and a selection of bonus material. Finally you will find interpretations and remixes by other artists that were influenced by the film, sampling Blade Runner's distinctive diaolgue and effects. Most notably there is a DJ Mix which includes two exclusive suites of the Future Sound of London's 'My Kingdom' and Cosmic Baby's 'L.A. 2018' that were specially created by Esper Productions for this set.

THEBLADE RUNNER ESPER ‘RETIREMENT’ DELUXE EDITION BOXSET(bonustracks)
Esper Retirement Edition Flaccid
A fantastic musical piece unlike any other. Hand numbered to 25 pieces only this auction is for number 22. Consisting of 6 discs that are beautifully packaged, this is the ultimate Blade Runner experience. Details about the discs can be found in the extensive description below, but first: Why Retirement? Because this fourth instalment in the Esper series will be the last one as nothing can be done to the score to make it any better (especially since Vangelis himself opened up his personal archives for the 2007 Blade Runner Trilogy release). It is fair to say however, that the Blade Runner Trilogy is far from complete with a lot of eminent music either missing or heavily edited. This prompted the need to create this Retirement Edition that has it all. Why Deluxe? Well, isn’t Blade Runner the ultimate visual experience? We thought we’d match this by going all the way to make a visual attractive package that matches the high quality content on the discs and the movie. Housed in a deluxe shiny white box and sporting a silver Blade Runner logo, the box includes 6 high glossy replicant photos. The discs themselves come in colour sleeves that match with the cards and contain full track information on the back. Why Bonustracks?Blade Runner - Esper Retirement Edition
The world of Blade Runner continues to inspire artists. Therefore Tyrell records was able to add another 115 tracks to disc 6 of this collection. By popular demand, we have also included the ever popular Gongo, Off World, and Deckart cds along with all Frank Klepacki‘s wonderful interpretations and new music recorded for the Westwood One Blade Runner game to this disc. THE CONTENT: The first 2 discs contain the extended Blade Runner score, disc 3 contains the moody ‘Los Angeles November 2019’ cd, disc 4 contains a specially prepared ‘City Streets suite’ as well as unused Blade Runner music and bonus tracks, disc 5 contains a DJ mix of Blade Runner remixes and music inspired by the film. Disc 6 is a DVD-Rom that contains over 300 Blade Runner remixes, cover versions including a few hard to find Blade Runner cds from the vault. THE CONTENT IN DETAIL: Discs 1 & 2: The Score Like the previous Esper edition (dubbed the MK3 or MR3 by some) these 2 discs contain the box sets main attraction: the most complete version of the score which has many improvements over all other Blade Runner releases. With new source material available, this time the score has been completely remixed and created from scratch so it does sound very different from the previous three 'Esper' releases. When the ‘Blade Runner Trilogy’ set was released in 2007, the original 1994 album was remastered and it is these remastered recordings that are used on the Retirement Edition. Also many other unreleased tracks have been remastered. There has always been an argument to whether the music of Blade Runner sounds better with or without sound effects. The score on this Retirement Edition aims to create the most 'musically-pure' and complete Blade Runner listening experience to date (the original Esper Edition has a lot of sound effects on it.)
One of the most notable additions to this release is the inclusion of a very rare and previously unreleased early demo of “Tales of the Future”. This demo is different to the version released on the 1994 Warner/2007 Blade Runner Trilogy releases and was used for the Animoid Row scene in the movie. Another piece of music that is on the Retirement Edition and cannot be found on any other previous Blade Runner score is a track entitled “J.F. Sebastian’s Apartment”. All fans of the “End Titles” will be happy to see that the Retirement Edition has the full length version in the best quality.
Here is a list of all the other improvements:
- The Retirement Edition contains the best available version of the “Prologue and Main Titles”. Whereas earlier releases contain either poor sound quality, inferior mixing or hiss in the backgroun...
